Trellidor Bedfordview secures Eskom transformers with Rollerstyle shutters
Trellidor Rollerstyle shutters have been fitted to 10 Eskom mobile transformer units to protect them from a variety of threats. The Trellidor franchise responsible for this interesting project is located in Bedfordview. There could eventually be as many as 80 units to be commissioned.
The mobile transformer units are being used by Eskom to supplement power supply when sub-stations go down. They are transported on low-bed trailers. Each truck transports five units. These mobile sub-stations can be used during the maintenance of permanent sub-stations.
These are the first units of their kind in South Africa. Depending on how they work, further roll-out will happen. If the these test units are successful and the full roll-out happens, it will help to alleviate power outages around the country.
Rollerstyle Shutters
Trellidor Rollerstyle shutters are manufactured from aluminium. They are available in a variety of slat options including vented and solid. The shutters are custom-made to fit each opening. They can be manually operated or automated.
In addition to offering excellent security in the lock-down position, the shutters also assist with internal temperature and noise control.
Securing this contract was a team effort between the Trellidor Bedfordview franchise and Trellidor head office. Sales Consultant Brett Francis worked with the client for about six months before the first two units rolled off the line.
